The Lord saved
me at the age of ten. When I was younger, I thought that I was already a Christian,
but when I was about eight, I began to think about it more. I realized that I could
not remember ever actually asking Jesus to save me! ("For whosoever shall CALL upon
the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13). I knew that if I truly
asked Him to save me, it would not be right to keep a secret. ("For the scripture
saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." Romans 10:11).
However, I was afraid of what people would think when they found out that I had just been
"acting a part." I continued to fight with it for a while, but I would not
give in.
One day when I was ten, my mom asked me if I
had ever thought about being baptized. I told her that I was not even saved!
We then knelt together and prayed, and I asked Jesus to save me.
We were having special meetings at church that
week, and I went forward that night so that people would know that I was now truly saved!
I was able to be baptized the next night.
"For he hath said, I will never leave
thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5b)
"Therefore being justified by faith, we
have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 5:1)
